I am very proud to have grown up in East Salinas. I attended Bardin Elementary School, El Sausal Middle School, and Alisal High School. My experiences in our beautiful city, my travels, the people I have had the honor to meet, and my beautiful family have shaped me into the man I am today. After high school, I attended Wabash College in Indiana where I discovered my passion for teaching and giving back to my community. I returned to Salinas determined to make a difference. I started my teaching career in Soledad and then at Cesar Chavez Elementary School in the Alisal District. Simultaneously, I completed two master’s degrees in Education. I discovered that I could have a greater influence on our students as a school principal.
At the age of 29, I became the youngest principal in Monterey County and began my doctoral studies. Today, I am the Senior Director of the Migrant Education Program for Monterey County. At the heart of everything I have been able to accomplish is the satisfaction that an immigrant and english learner like myself can achieve his dreams. This is the aspiration that we have for our students in the Dream Academy. I am a very proud husband and father of four amazing kids. I enjoy coaching sports and one of my hobbies is to mix and produce music. My motto in life is, “the time will pass, might as well have something to show for it”. This motto represents my motivation to live everyday with purpose and make a difference in the world.
